Project 1 Description
Packing more than one pair of shoes takes up valuable space in a suitcase, but could be the difference between enjoying your vacation or skipping out on an activity. Regardless of the type of trip, having proper footwear is essential for remaining comfortable and fashionable. To eliminate the need to bring multiple pairs, I created a mid-top slip on sneaker featuring adjustable straps for a secure fit and easy removal. The upper removes using a zipper, converting to a sport sandal. The shoe remains lightweight and waterproof while offering durability and traction on any terrain, ideal for travelers.

Project 2 Description
For my first apparel project, I designed and hand crafted a jacket which provides both utility and comfort. Hand sewn using nylon taffeta, the jacket features a zip out hood, two way hand pockets, a zippered chest pocket, and a concealed inner pocket.

Project 3 Description
A flatpacking chair combining Bamboo and Birch plywood. The chair is designed to project confidence while the reclined back provides comfort for extended periods. The seat is crafted from three layers of flat Birch plywood which fit snug inside a hidden groove.

Gavin Kelly is a graduate from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a BFA in Industrial Design. As a designer and artist, Gavin is driven by curiosity, stories, and craft. Originally a ceramics major, Gavin found Industrial Design to combine his love of new ideas with dedication to craftsmanship.
