Project 1 Description
The ability to participate in sport and an active life should have no limits. Therefore, this footwear looks to create an easy-to-wear shoe for people with physical and fine motor disabilites. The shoe opens up with a simple pull and then snaps closed for a tight fit. This eliminates problems with laces and having to be dependent on others to help with putting on shoes, allowing for non-stop active play and the independence to part-take in everyday activities.
Project 2 Description
An injured leg greatly immobilises a person. Current mobility aids often add pain and discomfort. They can also make the user feel helpless as well as take up extra space around them. When walking in public spaces, there is the fear of bumping the injured leg, adding to injury and reducing healing time.
This mobility aid will help a person with a lower leg injury to feel independence and have regular mobility while they heal.
Project 3 Description
Protest is very absent from Industrial Design. This project looks to merge the two by creating an object to protest and spark conversation.
Turkish media portrays male violence against women as something that is normal and welcomed. With constant portrayal of these behaviours as acceptable, Turkey as a society will never be able to shed its violent culture in real life.
The aim of this project is to shed light on tv violence against women by designing an apparel piece that creates empathy between the viewer and female character in the television drama, through inflation and pressure.
Bio
I am an Industrial Designer with a Bachelor’s Degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Born in Germany with German/Turkish origins, I grew up in England and Dubai, before moving to New York. Having grown up so multi-culturally, I was always interested in exploring interactions, along with materials and forms related to different cultures.
I’ve always been fascinated by the way the human body interacts with objects and the space around it. Through my work, I aim to explore how we function and how to alter the way we live.
