Project 1 Description
The Escape Pod. A rooftop tent design with a built-in solar array.
This product enables the camping community to quickly set up camp anywhere! With power outlets that extend from the tent, they can power their entire campsite with free energy from the sun. The Escape pod can be deployed at the touch of a button and gives users a view of the night sky as they fall asleep.
Project 2 Description
The Montrail entry-level trail running shoe.
This shoe pushes the boundaries on the integration of the upper and outsole components and features a sock-fit upper. The fused and fashionable styling offers a new and refreshing shift for the Montrail brand.
Project 3 Description
Reach. A solution for users with limited use of their hands.
Working with a friend who was paralyzed in an accident at the age of 18, we were able to come up with a concept that suspends a pair of glasses in the air for access without the need for a caregiver's assistance. 5.4 million Americans live with some sort of paralysis. This concept could be applied to a variety of everyday items and will hopefully inspire designers to focus on this user group and give them more independence.
Bio
Hi! My name is John and I am an Industrial designer from Kansas City. Growing up, I always enjoyed creating things and turning my ideas to life. During my time in the ID program at the University of Kansas, I’ve learned what it means to use creative processes to empathize with people and solve real problems through design. I’m incredibly excited to see what I can do with this experience to make a difference in our world.
